Create + Construct Symposium Series

Finding Inspiration in an Industry Icon

Project Brief

Client: Simpson Gumpertz & Heger

Project: Create + Construct Symposium Series

Category: Branding

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is a nationally recognized and highly regarded engineering firm with more than 60 years of experience designing, investigating, and rehabilitating structures, building enclosures, and materials.
The firm's Create + Construct symposia bring together a slate of industry experts to explore trends in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. To launch the 2017 season, SGH reached out to Stark/Raving to reimagine the event’s brand identity.

The Challenge

Develop a brand identity reflecting forward thinking, appealing to a range of design and technical professionals, and creating a visual connection between the structures highlighted in the symposia and the event itself.

The Process

Inspired by SGH's extensive project library – including both historic and modern landmarks – we employed various styles in the identity to reflect a strong foundation, technical precision, and advanced design.

The Solution

The final event identity takes cues from the minimalistic, angular facade of the Contemporary Art Wing of the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
