The construction of Fort Point began in the 1830s, its name coming from an old fort that protected the harbor during the colonial period. Over the years, Fort Point has undergone changes leading it to become a hub for art, culture, and technology. In the late 1970s, there was a large artist movement into the Fort Point neighborhood after a fire in Jamaica Plain left many artists without affordable studio space. Today Fort Point houses over 300 artists, making it one of New England’s largest artist enclaves. As the neighborhood continues to expand and diversify, it has been renamed Boston’s Innovation District. In 2017, we opened our doors and we are very proud to call this neighborhood our home.
